Unique Tile & Stone Exhibit References Our Built Environment

FFTSE Press Release

To promote the latest tile and stone products, the Full Frontal Tile & Stone Expo has commissioned Stephen Varady Architecture to design a series of four Showcase Exhibition Stands. Each stand is sponsored by a different Australian company or organisation, and has been designed to project its own identity while remaining part of the cohesive group.

"Our goal was to embody a spirit of uniqueness, creativity and excellence," Stephen Varady explained. "The designs are a fusion of the practical, the artistic, the historic and the experiential."

Royal Tiles, Trend Tile, Floortech + Iris and the Australian Stone Advisory Association showcase the best in Australian tile and stone, using inspiration ranging from ancient temple forms and the works of Andrea Palladio to Russian Constructivists and the Australian milk bar.

The focal point of the series is a 6 m tower at the Trend Tile stand, highlighting the impressive vertical proportion of the Kerlite range. This revolutionary ceramic product comes in sizes as large as 1 x 3 m, and will make the Showcase Exhibition Stands hard to miss.

Although the original design brief was relatively open, it required construction to be completed within three days on-site, and stipulated that as many tiles as possible should be re-usable after FFTSE.

The designs are finalised, the tiles have been ordered and the stone is being cut. Don't miss the end result at the Full Frontal Tile & Stone Expo in The Dome at Sydney Showground on 17-19 April 2008.
